Hi! I’m Catherine from Atlanta, Georgia, with a BA in History from Arizona State University. I’ve lived in China, Italy, and Scotland, and I’m passionate about history, writing, public speaking, and learning from different cultures.
I currently teach Middle School Social Studies and English Language Arts at St. Peter Claver School. At Faith Christian Academy, I focused on hands-on learning to help students improve reading and math skills, particularly those below grade level. I enjoy making learning engaging and personalized.
With over two years of ESL experience in China and Italy, I’ve worked with high school students and informal “English corners.” I’m also a Special Needs Aide for a blind and disabled student, offering one-on-one support.
I have a 140-hour TEFL certificate and specialize in helping non-native speakers with grammar, pronunciation, and conversation, particularly in the American accent.
My Expertise:
I teach history as a series of interconnected stories, making it come alive for students. I specialize in European History (1500-present) and American History (post-Civil War-present), with a focus on the World Wars, French Revolution, and British history.
At St. Peter Claver, I use technology like Khanmigo to encourage critical thinking. I’ve also helped students at Faith Christian Academy meet grade-level reading and math goals.
If you need help with History, ESL, writing, or public speaking, feel free to contact me!
My Hobbies:
I love walking, exploring new places, trying new foods, and painting. Traveling and experiencing different cultures are some of my favorite things!
