Hi!
I'm a university math professor tutoring in summertime. I've been in this full-time position since 2011. Before that, I taught and tutored part-time while completing my graduate studies. Hi!
I'm a university math professor tutoring in summertime. I've been in this full-time position since 2011. Before that, I taught and tutored part-time while completing my graduate studies. That was when I was in Boston and New Orleans, but I'm glad I was able to pursue my career in my native Mississippi Gulf Coast.

In Boston, I tutored for a prestigious company in 2003-2006, doing test prep and other academic mathematics for ambitious high school students. They placed great emphasis on matching students to tutors, and I varied my approach with students of different strengths and personalities. That has helped me since in my full-time teaching and working with students individually or in small groups--I love getting to know my students in the university setting and they really do sense that my devotion to them as they progress through the course material.

My educational background is a PhD in mathematics from Tulane University in 2011, a master's in computer science from MIT in 1999, and a bachelor's in mathematics from MIT in 1996. I taught courses part-time as a graduate student and part-time at the community college level, all in math of course. I also did some independent tutoring of high school students while in New Orleans.

Discrete Math

I have a PhD in mathematics and at the college level, I've taught all levels of calculus, discrete mathematics, math computing (Sage/Python), abstract/modern algebra. Plus pre-calculus and below. Of course, abstract algebra (which I've taught regularly) depends on discrete math and its proof-writing skills.
