I am a graduate of Mississippi State University, where I earned my BA in Communication with an emphasis in Theatre and my MA in Secondary Education with an emphasis in English. I have also completed 21 additional graduate credit hours in English. With approximately 14 years of teaching experience, I have worked with students of all ages and ability levels.

My teaching background includes elementary reading intervention, middle and high school English, college English Composition I and II, American Literature, and Theatre. I have also spent several years teaching in fully virtual classrooms and am Canvas Certified. I enjoy finding creative ways to make challenging concepts easier to understand.

I have approximately 10 years of experience tutoring students for the ACT and SAT, particularly in grammar, reading comprehension, writing, and test-taking strategies. One of my proudest accomplishments was developing an ACT English preparation course for 45 high school juniors who improved their scores by an average of nine points. I focus on helping students understand not only which answers are correct, but why they are correct.

I have also served as an adjunct college English instructor and Theatre Director. My theatre background has helped me develop engaging, interactive teaching methods that make learning more enjoyable and memorable.

Outside of teaching, I am a wife and mother of two. I understand the importance of patience, encouragement, and adapting to each student's individual needs.

My greatest passion is helping students build confidence in themselves. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through challenges. Nothing is more rewarding than watching a student finally understand something they once thought was impossible!
