Hello, I am a licensed Mississippi special education teacher with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. I completed TMI I and TMI II through the University of Mississippi and passed the Praxis Special Education: Foundational Knowledge assessment. My education and classroom experience prepare me to tutor elementary students in reading, writing, and foundational academic skills, as well as middle and high school students in social studies, civics, geography, psychology, sociology, and related humanities subjects.
I am currently in my second year as a classroom teacher and have taught students ranging from approximately six to eighteen years old. I currently work as an elementary special education inclusion teacher, providing academic and social-emotional support in general education classrooms, small groups, and one-on-one settings. I previously taught high school psychology, sociology, advanced world geography, and broadcasting. These experiences have taught me how to explain information clearly and adapt instruction for students with different abilities, backgrounds, and learning needs.
My tutoring approach is patient, structured, and individualized. I break difficult concepts into manageable steps and use visuals, guided practice, repetition, modeling, and frequent checks for understanding. I am especially comfortable working with students who have IEPs, need extra time, struggle with focus or confidence, or benefit from learning material in a different way. My goal is to help each student improve academically while developing the confidence and independence needed for long-term success.
