Greetings!
I am French and currently living in Mississippi. I earned a PhD in Biology (cell and molecular physiology) in France in 2001, then joined the University of Iowa as a post-doctoral researcher for 10 years (muscle and adipose physiology). During my undergraduate and graduate studies, I also worked as middle/high school counselor and regularly tutored students in science.
I truly loved the teaching and mentoring part of my job as a scientist and joined a 4-years teaching college in 2011. For the past 10 years I have been a college professor in biology teaching mostly human A&P, physiology and physiology related courses, interested in developing innovative and creative teaching approaches (interactive videos, flipped just in time teaching, …), and still trying to go to the research lab with my students.

I kept a French accent despite living in the States for 20 years +, but it does not seem to be an obstacle in teaching. My students describe me as fair, patient, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic.

Looking forwards to hearing from you! - Severine

Anatomy

Anatomy

I have earned a PhD in biology with an emphasis on cell and molecular physiology. I have more than 10 years experience in biomedical research using animal models after earning my doctorate in 2001. I have been a college professor since 2011 and have been teaching human anatomy and physiology, and physiology and physiology-related courses since 2012. From my education, my experiences as a biomedical scientist, and as college professor, I have a total of 25+ years in anatomy.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I have a PhD in cell and molecular physiology, more than 10 years of fundamental research post phD and am teaching in college since 2011. I am using biochem extensively with my research. Contact me, send me your problem, and I would love to work with you! Thank you! severine
Biology

Biology

I have earned a PhD in biology with an emphasis in cell and molecular physiology in 2001. I have more than 10 years experience as a biomedical scientist and have been a college professor in Biology teaching general biology for majors, Anatomy and Physiology, Physiology, and physiology-related courses since 2012.
College Counseling

College Counseling

As a college professor in an undergraduate institution since 2011, I am the academic advisor of more than 40 students yearly. Scheduling courses is just a part of it. The most important part is to provide guidance on preparing the post graduation endeavors by planning backward. Which internships to seek? Which shadowing to do? How to best prepare the post-grad applications and interviews? How to look for scholarships including early grad ones? If you have doubts, contact me and I will be glad to be working with you!
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Elementary math is a basis of the calculations in biology and lay the fundamentals for algebra. I found from my son’ s going through elementary math that much of the teaching is abstract and tend to block many of our younger learners. When teaching early college biology courses, I realize that most of the apprehension my students get from the math part come form the elementary math and pre-algebra concepts. Most often, helping students see the connections between those concepts help them move forward.
Elementary Science

Elementary Science

I teach in college but have been helping students in K12 , college and professional schools. Contact me with your topic and I will be glad to meet your child, children to find a way to specifically build a session adapted to their needs! Looking forward to working with you! severine
French

French

I am French native. I was born and raised in France and have all my family still there. However I moved to the States in 2001, for work (post-doctoral work in biology). Inever imagined I would stay that long! But here I am .. 20 years later and I will finish my career here before to retire in France. My 14 years old was born here so he speaks American English with no accent. He understands everything in French of course. Even though I am a biologist and I teach physiology in college, the skills I have honed over the past 10 years being a full - time college professor should serve me well to help you learn French! Let me know if you are interested! Severine
Genetics

Genetics

I have a PhD in Biology, specialty Cell and Molecular Biology and 10 years of work in research with developing, genotyping and phenotyping mouse models.
HESI (Nursing exam)

HESI (Nursing exam)

I have been teaching anatomy and physiology in college since 2012 after more tna 10 years working in biomedical research. In my current college, I prepare the pre-bnursing students as wella s the pre-medical and pre-professional students with foundational anatomy and Physiology, but also advanced physiology and physiology related courses. The HESI prep includes mathematics, reading, vocal, chemistry that were foundational for my early academic training and onto which significantly build to earn a PhD and working in research and higher Ed since 2001.
Physiology

Physiology

I have more than 10 years experience in biomedical research after earning my doctorate. I also have more than 10 years experience teaching anatomy and physiology, physiology and physiology-related courses in college.
TEAS

TEAS

I have been teaching anatomy and physiology for pre-allied health students for the pas 10y years. With a PhD in biology, and emphasis on cell and molecular physiology, I use algebra, physics, chemistry, and of course biochemistry in addition to anatomy, to explain how the body works. Teaching human anatomy and physiology for allied -health students and physiology course for pre-medical students, I can appreciate how math, general chemistry, and English are often creating bottlenecks to the success of pre-nursing candidates. Let me help you reviewing fundamentals in math, reading, and human A&P to maximize your chances of success at the TEAS! Severine

Amazing tutor

Severine is Great. She explains everything clearly, and she is very patient and understanding. I hated physiology, and I got a really good grade because of our sessions that we did before the test.

My 9-year-old had a great time!

Had our first lesson with Severine and immediately booked again. My 9-year-old (who was very excited to start French tutoring) was very happy at the end of the first lesson: "That was fun! Let's do it again." Seems like a very promising start!

Highly recommend

We’ve had a wonderful experience working with Severine for my daughter’s Honors Biology class. She is incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and genuinely kind. What stands out most is how supportive and accommodating she is—always trying her best to adjust to our schedule, even on short notice. After each session, she sends detailed notes that are incredibly helpful for review and reinforcement. Her passion for teaching really shows. Highly recommend!

Knowledgeable and resourceful

Severine prepared a lesson with plenty of resources so that I could benefit the most. She gives homework with an emphasis on immersion, which is something I value a lot. She also had a quick fix for when I had technical issues on my end with the camera.

Fantastic French Tutor!

Severine has worked with my son in both 10th and 11th grade. As a parent she has been so easy to work with and a great communicator. For my son, she has made French fun. Severine has not only improved his French scores, but also made his French more natural and increased his desire to use the language inside and outside the classroom.

Great at Teaching and Explaining Physiology!

Severine explains physiology concepts in a way that is easy to understand, while also showing how the concepts connect to each other. In just a few sessions I was able to increase my recent exam score by 10 points compared to my last one. Severine makes learning physiology so much easier (and even fun) and I highly recommend her for anyone taking physiology!

Awesome!!

She was amazing! She went through each photo I sent and explained to me each concept and how they correlated to each other. She made sure I understood everything we discussed. She is very good at explaining concepts in a thorough and understanding way.
