About Kathy

I have taught grades 1-5 for a total of 18 years. I am certified to teach remedial reading K-12. I am National Board Certified. I was a Number Sense Coach and have taught students how to compete with mental math. I enjoy teaching Reading Skills and Math. I am familiar with Common Core and helped train my fellow teachers in Common Core Standards. I am open to tutoring other subject areas as well on the elementary grade level. I can tutor in pre-algebra and algebra.

I believe that every student can learn if they are taught in their own learning style. I believe in individualizing instruction to each student and helping them stay motivated to build confidence in the areas that they have been struggling.

I enjoy working with a variety of resources to help students succeed. The resources range fromhands on projects to technology such as web-based educational games and iPads.

If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
