Hi! My name is Miss Sandra and I have been teaching for a really long time. I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults on various subjects. You could say that I'm a "jack of all trades". I like to talk to the student to see their perception of the problem. I also want to find out their learning style and the best way to present the information. Hi! My name is Miss Sandra and I have been teaching for a really long time. I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults on various subjects. You could say that I'm a "jack of all trades". I like to talk to the student to see their perception of the problem. I also want to find out their learning style and the best way to present the information. After presenting the information, I want to get a quick evaluation of what needs re-teaching. I try a different method with mnemonic devices to help their retention.
I was not very good in math during my school years, but because of that, I can break it down into steps that the student can understand. I really like working with what used to be called pre-algebra. I taught math to the students at the psychiatric hospital for the last year that I was there. When the students discharged, their WRAT scores in math had increased from their initial testing with the WRAT.
Science fascinates me. I taught high school biology at a psychiatric facility for four years. We loved doing the experiments that would give a reason for why something happened.
I'm a voracious reader and like to go different places through thee magic of words. I took several reading courses at MSU. While working with the MS Band of Choctaw Indians I was the facilitator for Jamestown Reading Navigator and the Plato Lab.
My degree is in Special Education. I have learned so many tricks over the years that if a student is capable of learning I can present the information so that they can learn and use that information. But, I also love working with students that are gifted.
I am an experienced teacher who loves to see that light bulb go off when the lesson starts to make sense.
