Whether you are an accomplished writer that wants to improve, or someone who struggles with writing and needs support, at the undergrad or graduate level, I'm ready to meet you where you are and help you work towards your goals. In addition to Language Arts related support, I have a lot of experience helping students with their overall academic success with areas such as study skills and learning strategies. I have experience with writing and research and often help students with grammar and proofreading. I have experience helping students prepare for the English portion of the ACT. I have 10+ years experience teaching and tutoring students in many forms of writing, including essay writing, creative writing, fiction writing, poetry, and nonfiction writing.

I love to help students find their writing voices and become confident in their abilities. I believe that everyone can develop the ability to communicate clearly in writing, and I have helped many people improve their skills. My personal goal for my students is that they feel ready to succeed in all writing-intensive courses.

Currently, I teach and tutor at two colleges in the St. Louis area. I have taught developmental English, English Composition I and II, and World Literature, among other subjects at the undergraduate level. I teach Creative Nonfiction, including memoir and the personal essay, at the graduate level. I am also a published poet and essayist. I have worked as an English tutor at two college writing centers. I have level II certification with the College Reading and Learning Association.

I have an EdD (Doctor of Education) from Maryville University, a Master's Degree in Writing from Lindenwood University, a Master's Degree in Asian Studies from Washington University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Chinese Language from Washington University.

I tutor online and am ready to help anyone anywhere!

I look forward to helping you achieve your goals!

Thesis Writing

I recently completed my own thesis, which was comprised of quantitative research. As a Learning Center English specialist, I read many thesis papers and helped students to polish them for final submission. I love supporting students in their thesis writing. I understand it can be a stressful process. I can help students wherever in the process they need support. I am mellow and low stress.
