I am an experienced math, reading and ACT tutor. I enjoy helping students build confidence in their math and reading skills. I have tutored kindergarten through college students, as well as adults who need help with math and English for the GED, ASVAB and nursing entrance exams.

I have worked as a tutor at a middle school and grade school, and have been tutoring since 2000. I received training from the Student Literacy Corps, Webster University and Americorps Vista.

I love to help students improve their ability to read. I have helped many students improve their reading skills through weekly tutoring sessions and interactive activities.

Math was my favorite subject in school. I will tutor basic math, prealgebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, precalculus, ASVAB, ACT, GED and TEAS. I love helping people to decipher word problems and to understand algebra. I also enjoy helping students who wish to get ahead of the class. For these students, I teach new concepts and follow the order outlined on their school website or the program of their choice (AoPS, RM, Kuta Math, and IXL).

Please contact me if interested. Thanks!

Some students are able to work with just their math class work, while others need things explained from a new point of view.

Kind, mellow, and patient tutor

This was a pleasant experience. I was nervous at first. It's difficult to meet with a stranger about something that makes feel vulnerable or insecure. I was very comfortable and look forward to the next time. While I'm not a fan of math, she teaches in a way that I can understand and enjoy.

An amazing and helpful math tutor

My family is so lucky to have found Rebecca. She's an excellent teacher in all of the ways one hopes for. She knows her subject inside and out, is able to adapt it to a person with a different learning style, she's patient, genuinely caring, and honestly makes the process of learning enjoyable. Rebecca was a weekly math tutor to my son for one and a half years starting when he was sixteen until he graduated from high school. Being homeschooled (unschooled) and not having previous interest in learning math, he had only taken one basic math class prior to this and needed a substantial amount of help in order to take the GED. With much guidance from Rebecca, my son passed the GED on his first try. I asked my son why he feels that Rebecca was able to help him so much / what makes her a good teacher. The first thing he said was, "She was always _extremely_ patient." He then added, "She made our lessons fun by joking with me, but always returned to the lesson and kept me focused too." And then upon reflection, he added, "And she was always open about my readiness for taking the GED, which I really appreciated." Next semester, as my next teenager gets prepared for the GED, we hope Rebecca will be able to be a math tutor for him too. My son and I highly recommend Rebecca and are so appreciative of her.

Knowledgable and patient teacher

Rebecca has a good balance between teaching and confirming retention. We love her teaching style and communication. She takes the time to interview the kids and determine what they do and don't know.

Engaged my 8 year old with great hands on

Rebecca was fantastic at having a variety of hands on activities to help my 8 year old read. He enjoyed working with her on the different skills. Rebecca provided prompt detailed feedback to me about their session as well as helpful ways I can work with him as well.

She is awesome!

Very patient and thorough! I had several “clicks” throughout the tutoring! I was struggling with certain topics and she described different ways to look at them. This definitely helped me “click”! Thank you, Rebecca!!

Fantastic!

She went over exactly what was needed to catch him up. My son never complained about going to see her and he was actually able to sit for the full hour, which I never thought was possible.

Great ACT Tutor

Rebecca helped my son with several ACT subjects. He has learned a lot in each session and is much more confident now. She has a thorough and organized approach to covering each subject. Also, she accommodated his ever changing football schedule whenever she could.

Excellent Tutor

Becky is helping my daughter prep or her ACT. They are working on both Math and English. My daughter states that she feels like she is learning a lot in the hour time period. Becky also sends her with homework to complete each week to see how she is progressing.
