Hey, everyone! My name is Daren and I'm a writer and filmmaker living in Missouri. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's degree in Creative Writing, but more specifically, with an emphasis in poetry. I've been published in journals and magazines such as Puerto del Sol, Unvaeled, and CONKER Magazine, among others.

When I'm not writing or making films, you can usually find me curled up on the couch watching a movie. Or napping. Sometimes both.

Over the course of my studies, I’ve come to learn that writing is different for everyone. There’s no one-size-fits-all way to do it, and that’s what makes it so exciting and fun. With four years of workshop experience and participation in literature conferences and readings, I feel that I possess a well-developed perspective on what it takes to write compelling material that grabs the reader and leaves them with a lasting impression. I’ve worked in fiction, poetry, written and edited numerous essays, and provided a year of proofreading services during my college career.

I’ll be able to help you at any point of the writing process. Whether it’s brainstorming an initial idea or revising your essay towards a final product, we will work together to make sure you leave with a piece that is stronger and more refined than that with which you arrived.

I can also proofread and provide feedback on poems, short stories, blogs, etc. Whatever writing struggle you’re facing, I am here to help.

There is always room to learn and grow, and I strive to continually do so. I am willing to listen to both students and parents on what resources or methods may serve their needs and provide them with the best tutoring experience possible.
