I am currently pursuing a full stack web development certification through Washington University in St. Louis, which was a decision inspired by my love of both math and language. Throughout college I tutored middle and high school students in algebra and English, informally tutored many peers in Spanish and American Sign Language, and volunteered as an English as a Second Language instructor for non-native speaking adults. I love helping students find a certain component of a subject that they connect with and using that as a launching point for them to build confidence as we move through other elements of the subject. I am skilled in recognizing/adapting to various learning styles, have experience working with students from a wide array of backgrounds, and strive to always maintain a motivating and uplifting environment for my students.
I have been studying Spanish, French, and American Sign Language since high school, and upon graduation received Wilson High School's World Languages Polyglot Award for outstanding performance in all languages the school offered. I graduated cum laude from Lawrence University with a B.A. in Linguistics and in Classical Languages & Literature, during which time I continued my studies of Spanish and American Sign Language and also began studying Latin and Ancient Greek. In 2018 I was the recipient of my university's Peabody Prize in Latin for outstanding scholarship in the language, and began pursuit of Modern Greek during the four months that I studied in Athens.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions for me. I am very excited to continue teaching these subjects that I have been passionate about for so long and also look forward to learning with you!
