Mi nombre es Claudia. I am from Colombia, South America, I have a B.A from Universidad Jorge Tadelo Lozano in Bogotá, Colombia and a Master's Degree from Webster University. I arrived to the United States 24 years ago and did not know how to speak English. I understand how difficult it is to learn a new language as an adult and how important it is to start learning a new language as a little kid.

I have extensive tutoring experience in Spanish for children and adults. I have tutored in English as well as English as a Second Language teacher. I have helped young students learn by using games and videos. I believe all types of students learn faster in a fun and engaging environment.

I have experience working with preschool and kindergarten-age students in both English and Spanish. I have also tutored high school students and adults. Through these tutoring experiences, I have learned how to best teach each age group. An adult must work harder than a child to master a new language because the brain protects the authority of its native language. Children do not have the cross-translation problem and acquire any language in their environment by forming direct links between symbols or concepts and words or phrases in the new language. I know Children preserve this ability until about 12 years of age.
