Hello! My name is Alex W. and I am a scientist, mentor, and published researcher. I received a Master of Science in Biological Sciences from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Spanish graduating cum laude from Illinois College. My research experience includes publishing a peer-reviewed article in Neuroscience Insights investigating ethanol-induced signaling pathways in Drosophila melanogaster. Professionally, I have worked as a Scientist at a CDMO, where I specialize in biologics process development, analytical testing, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
I have extensive experience in biology, molecular genetics, biochemistry, and biopharmaceutical research. My background includes designing experiments, analyzing complex datasets, and communicating scientific findings through publications and presentations. During graduate school, I was a TA for multiple classes including Cellular and Molecular Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Microbiology. In the biopharmaceutical industry, I have worked in downstream process development performing protein purification. I am also experienced in assay development, process optimization, troubleshooting, scientific writing, and data interpretation allowing me to help students connect foundational scientific concepts with real-world applications in biotechnology and therapeutic development.
My passion for science extends beyond the laboratory. I enjoy helping students understand not only how laboratory techniques work, but also the scientific principles behind them. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have enjoyed mentoring, teaching, and helping students build confidence in their applications of complex scientific principles. Whether you're preparing for an exam, mastering laboratory techniques, conducting research, or exploring careers in biotechnology and life sciences, I am committed to helping you build confidence, deepen your knowledge, and achieve your academic goals.
