Hello! My name is Samik, and I am a third-year medical student at Washington University. I tutor the MCAT and also Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Physics at the university, AP, and high school honors levels. I scored a 525 on the MCAT (100%) and earned my degree in Biology and Biochemistry in 2023 (4.0 GPA). I have coached dozens of students for the MCAT (with many scoring >515).
In addition to the private tutoring I have done, I have developed my teaching style and approach by working as a physics and physiology teaching assistant for five semesters at Washington University in St. Louis.
My tutoring style is explanation-heavy, drawing-heavy (I use tons of visualizations), and practice-heavy (especially for the MCAT and any AP tests). I often make sessions interactive and ask students to explain and draw out their problem-solving process so I can see how best to improve their approach or fill in knowledge gaps.
I act as more than a "content-review" tutor for most of my MCAT students. I will work with you on your timeline, when to take practice tests, what resources to use vs. avoid, and create the best, most efficient plan to maximize your score while also being cognizant of your schedule and other life responsibilities. Whether preparing for the MCAT, midterms, or just learning science, my goal is for students to leave each session with tools they can use independently to succeed academically.
