My name is Rei and I’m a junior at Washington University in Saint Louis! I’m an Astrophysics major and I tutored Latin, Spanish, and math in high school, though now I focus on Algebra, Calculus, and Introductory Physics. I’m hoping to be a teacher after graduation and I’m very passionate about helping my students grow. All tutoring sessions will be at the student’s own pace and will supplement classroom learning. I tend to focus on helping students understand why things are the way they are as opposed to making them memorize equations. I believe that learning comes from true comprehension, not memorization.
When I tutored in the past, I worked one on one with students for about one to two hours at a time to discuss homework and specific topics they were struggling with in class. Tutoring sessions usually start with a discussion about how the student felt in class recently and then continue depending on what the student is struggling on. We could work on homework together, I could explain general concepts, we could work on other problems together, or anything else the student needs.
If the student or parents have specific resources they want me to pull from, I’ll gladly do so! I’ll always respond within 24 hours, so feel free to message me about any questions or concerns, or to schedule a tutoring session!
