Excel Tutor for basic and advanced skills

Hello, my name is Will. I graduated with highest distinction from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, earning a bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance. Required among the business classes were multiple courses dedicated to learning Excel. I quickly gained an appreciation for the tool and saw its potential. I decided then to become a tutor and continued to explore the software in my free time. I learned and then subsequently taught students how to build anything from dashboards to amortization tables to data cleansing. In my free time, I worked on more fun projects like a functioning game of Yahtzee with dice that actually roll. Since graduating, my interest has continued, and I have been able to apply and grow my skills at work.

After taking some time away, I realized how much I missed working with students and have decided to resume tutoring independently. My lessons are structured around each student’s individual goals — I ask that students come prepared with specific topics or skills they want to develop. During our sessions, I’ll demonstrate one or more effective methods for solving problems, then guide students through customized practice exercises designed to strengthen those new skills. I use leading questions to encourage independent thinking and help students discover their own approaches, especially since in Excel, there are often multiple ways to achieve the same result. Ultimately, my goal is to help students build confidence and develop the ability to integrate and expand upon what they’ve learned.
