I am a current first-year medical student at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating this past year magna cum laude with High Honors from Harvard College with an BA in Chemistry and Physics, as well as Computer Science. In addition to my academic pursuits as an undergraduate, I participated in various musical groups and musical productions as a classical singer. In all of my pursuits, I saw the need for active and engaged learning, whether it be in organic chemistry or in learning a new musical number.
I applied this hands-on philosophy with extensive teaching opportunities throughout college, taking on various teaching positions in STEM courses in both organic chemistry and in computer science. In these roles, I had the opportunity to teach in structured review sessions as well as in one-on one office hours. I have additionally tutored many various levels of high school science courses extensively throughout college. Accordingly, I am comfortable teaching STEM courses of many levels, from primary and secondary schooling levels through to entry and intermediate college level courses. I also have experience and proficiency with standardized testing, scoring a 1560 on the SAT and a 526 on the MCAT.
My teaching style revolves heavily around the socratic style of asking engaging questions that challenge students to synthesize information they've learned previously. I believe this allows a great deal of flexibility in teaching. Every topic has many levels of complexity which we can probe, and depending on student interest and proficiency, I can tailor questions and responses accordingly!
