Currently a PhD student in Geology and Geophysics at Missouri University of Science and Technology, I hold a B.Sc. in Geology & Geological Engineering (Summa Cum Laude, 3.924 GPA) and an M.Sc. in GIS from Colorado School of Mines. My journey, however, began as a community college student where I was awarded 2022 All-USA Academic Team member for my studies at Centralia College. With real-world experience in geology (particularly at U.S. Geological Survey), my academic work spans geoscience, mathematics, physics, GIS, data analysis, and scientific writing.
I have tutored students continuously since 2020, accumulating over five years of instructional experience in a variety of contexts. I began as a STEM tutor at Centralia College where I worked one-on-one with community college students in math, physics, and introductory science courses. At Colorado School of Mines, I advanced to Peer Tutor and then Lead Peer Tutor at the Center for Academic Services and Advising. In this capacity, I supervised roughly 24 tutors across STEM disciplines and organized academic workshops. I have also served as a Teaching Assistant and Lead Instructional Assistant for courses including Petrology and Soil Mechanics Lab, supporting undergraduate students in both lecture and hands-on laboratory settings. In each of these settings, I emphasize the “why” behind the “how,” and use real-world applications to help ground students in understanding the fundamentals.
I am comfortable tutoring college and advanced high school students in geology, earth science, GIS, introductory physics, mathematics, data analysis, and academic writing. My background in science communication also makes me effective at helping students who struggle to translate technical understanding into clear written work.
