Hello! My name is Brendon L. I am an experienced and passionate chess player and tutor. I have been studying chess for a decade and am rated 2300 elo rapid (Lichess).
My teaching experience consists of tutoring individuals online through Fiverr (2025-2026), as well as volunteering at my local library to give in-person chess lessons (2023-2026). I’ve worked with all ages of students, mostly children from 6 to 14 years old. As a chess tutor, my goal is to make complex concepts simpler and easy to digest for my students. I can teach a variety of students, such as providing lessons for all age groups and students with a wide array of elo’s anywhere from beginners to 2000. I create valuable and personalized learning tools, such as homework, specific to each student to improve their understanding of chess concepts
I understand that being a quality teacher is just as important as being an experienced chess player. This is why I take extra time carefully walking through concepts, questioning and testing student knowledge during puzzles and game analysis, and ensuring understanding throughout the lesson. I believe the most efficient training regime for students is what they find the most enjoyable, and that having fun while playing chess is crucial to student motivation and improvement. I will help my students identify their most effective regime and utilize it in our lessons.
