Hello, I'm Karen! I have a Bachelors degree in Spanish and Education, and a Masters degree in Instructional Technology and Design. I fell in love with Spanish language and culture while I was earning my Bachelors, and it is a love that I share with my students on a daily basis. I have taught for 30 years, middle and high school Spanish, and I have also taught online courses at the college level. My goal as an educator is to make Spanish easy-to-understand, giving my students support in the classroom to do their assignments and ask for help whenever needed. I also strive to give my students the tools and resources they need to be successful Spanish learners.
I taught for 30 years at a local school district, mainly focusing on Spanish levels 1 & 2, but have tutored up and through level 5 Spanish. I offered tutoring to my students before or after school, as well as during their homeroom times. Students were also encouraged to email or reach out for help whenever needed. I retired from teaching in May 2025, so my goal now is to focus solely on tutoring. Usually students need the most help with grammar, and while there is ALOT of memorization, Spanish language differs 'just enough' from English to make it confusing. My goal is to clear up the confusion and to give students the tools they need to be successful and feel confident in their learning.
I do want to benefit my students as much as possible, and I welcome any feedback parents and student provide. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, or to schedule a lesson!
