Every child wants to be successful in the classroom and in life. I have the desire to show your child that success is attainable. My 30 years in education and my Master's Degree in Counseling makes me an ideal tutor. I am creative and bring an enthusiasm that is contagious. I believe in finding out what skill gaps exist and go about remediating them. I also am able to teach handwriting and cursive, skills that are not usually taught in school. I will be your child's advocate in the classroom.
I look forward to working with you and your child.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have Florida Certification for elementary education; taught 4th grade for 3 years; taught remedial reading for 4th and 5th graders.
I believe in the teaching and memorization of math facts. There is no reason a child can't memorize facts especially since they can memorize phone numbers of friends. I teach math concepts and application by using a variety of learning tools. I want children to stop fearing math and learn how our lives revolve around math concepts.
I have 30 years in education and my Master's Degree in Counseling. I have taught remedial reading, with an emphasis on vocabulary and phonics. I taught remedial reading to elementary school students. I use a variety of materials and focus on a child's learning style in order to promote positive learning. I incorporate phonics, word analysis skills, and vocabulary to create a comprehensive program.
I have taught Study Skills to elementary - high school students using the Sylvan learning materials. I focus on time management, organization, test taking strategies, note-taking and outlining strategies. I enhance my tutoring by evaluating the learning style of the student to best incorporate strategies that blend with the specific learning style of the student. I also evaluate where a student does homework and studies and re-design the environment to get optimum efficiency.
