Hello! My name is Chrissy. I am a middle and high school At-Risk teacher, and I have been providing one-on-one tutoring for about 12 years. I love tutoring because I enjoy helping students of all ages build confidence and overcome obstacles. The tutoring experience I provide is entirely individualized. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I offer a free consultation to get to know you and understand your goals. Together, we will design a plan that will meet your needs.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's in Education in Mental Health Practices in Schools. Through my education, my previous career in social services, and my current role as an At-Risk teacher, I have specialized in helping students who have had negative experiences in the classroom setting. I can work with you on overcoming test anxiety, focus issues, lack of organization, and other barriers to academic success. I have found that tutoring is so much more than just helping someone memorize material!

In my classroom, I work with students in grades 6th through 12th and cover all subjects, often focusing on math and reading. My job at the school is to help students struggling with academic, behavioral, or mental health issues. I wholeheartedly believe every student can succeed with the proper support! Outside of my day job, I have also tutored students at the elementary level and adults preparing for high school equivalency tests or taking introductory college-level courses.

I am comfortable with online sessions and have had great success in that format. However, if you are in my area and looking for in-person sessions, I am also open to that. Feel free to contact me with any questions or to set up a free consultation!

ADHD

ADHD

In my role as a certified Behavior Intervention Specialist and At-Risk teacher, I have had many years of education and training on how to support an individual with ADHD in an academic setting. I am finishing a Master's Degree in Mental Health Practices in Schools and have taken classes focusing on this specific issue. A significant part of my job requires me to assist students with focus, organization, task completion, and other symptoms of ADHD that can sometimes hinder success. I also have my own diagnosis of ADHD and can bring a personal understanding of these issues!
Dyslexia

Dyslexia

In my role as a certified Behavior Interventionist and At-Risk Teacher, I have received education and training specifically in the area of dyslexia and the best way to support students with this diagnosis. I have also taken Orton-Gillingham courses. I use multisensory approaches and have many years of experience tailoring a program to suit students' specific needs as dyslexia is not a "one size fits all" issue!
Special Needs

Special Needs

I have been working with a variety of special needs students for over 20 years. I am a certified Behavior Interventionist which required extensive education and training on supporting students on the autism spectrum as well as those with learning and intellectual disabilities. I also have education and training specifically targeted towards behavioral disorders such as RAD and ODD. In my teaching career, I have significant experience designing success plans for all types of students, regardless of the obstacles they may face in an academic setting. My BA is in Psychology and I am finishing a Master's in Mental Health Practices in school, which has helped prepare me to work with special needs students. I have also been a foster parent to kids with a wide range of special needs.
