Hello, I'm Allison, and I would love to help you enjoy physics! I am currently accepting students for summer preparatory courses for AP Physics 1 and 2 and for AP Physics C Mechanics and E&M.

I provide a range of educational services ranging from teaching entire courses online, help with college physics courses, focused work in specific areas of difficulty, exam preparation, and assisting teachers new to physics. I am an experienced physics teacher currently teaching conceptual physics, Honors Physics, AP Physics C Mechanics, AP Physics C Electricity and Magnetism, and Quantum Physics. I received my Bachelors of Science in Physics from MIT in 2014, and then began a PhD in particle physics. During that time I began teaching classes and tutoring, and I found that helping students gain confidence in physics and overcome difficulty was a true passion of mine. I especially enjoy working with students in a one-on-one setting, so I became a high school physics teacher in order to reach more students this way.

When working with a student, my primary goal is to build their understanding, confidence, and independence through explanations, worked examples, cooperative problem solving, and finally student-led solutions. I strive to make this process as relevant and fun for the student as I find it to be. Physics governs our daily lives, and understanding it enriches everything we do!

I have 8 years of experience teaching high school physics. About 90% of my AP Physics C students score a 5 on both the Mechanics and E&M exams. I have spent over a decade of my life living and breathing physics, and I am very familiar with the misconceptions that students have when learning physics. This makes it easy for me to meet students at their level, correct misconceptions, and build from there.

I work full-time as a teacher during the week, but I offer flexible evening, weekend, and summer hours. Please contact me if you are interested in working together or if you have more questions about my availability or teaching style!

I have experience teaching both chemistry and physical science to high school students with a huge range in mathematical background. I have found visualization to be a crucial tool for teaching these concepts as well as solving problems, allowing students who may be less comfortable with math to understand these problems.

I have a degree in physics from MIT. I have taught AP Physics C, both mechanics and electricity and magnetism, for five years, and 90% of my students score a 5 on both exams.
SAT Math,

SAT Math

When preparing for the math portion of the SAT, it can be overwhelming to tackle the variety of problems represented. Test taking strategies to maximize efficiency and reduce stress are key to success. When coaching for this exam, I integrate these strategies into my content based instruction.

Amazing tutor: gets inside the students thinking process

If I could give 10 out of 5 stars, I would! Allison has been helping my daughter for eight months navigate AP physics C- and has done an amazing job at teaching her basic concepts, rebuilding missed concepts from her prior physics classes, identifying learning gaps and filling them in. Allison provides challenge questions/ extra practice which has been instrumental in helping to solidify concept understanding. My daughter has done well in physics and continues to love the subject. What sets Allison apart from others is her patience in explaining a concept. She's able to identify the student is not understanding, and approach the concept in several different ways until the student shows understanding. Further, she genuinely cares about her students success, with consistent follow up - reviewing past tests, checking in. Allison made time for my daughter when she knew she needed it, despite her otherwise busy schedule, which I am SO GRATEFUL for. If you ever need a personal reference for Allison, it would be ok with me to ask her for my phone number and I am happy to provide my experience details - she is really really amazing. Many thanks Allison!

Knowledgeable and Kind Tutor

Allison is a really helpful tutor who always has lots of resources to guide my learning. Her breadth of knowledge was also amazing, and she was always able to answer my physics questions, even if they were not covered in the AP Physics Mechanics Curriculum. I'd highly recommend anyone looking for a physics tutor to choose Allison.

She quickly helped my son finish 2 labs for physics

She was prompt and flexible and finished in less than an hour which was appreciated. Allison is quick to assess what my son had to do and was able to get him through it quicker than he could have in his own. We will use her again
