I became a math teacher after a career in management in the private sector because I have a heart to help people. Helping my staff achieve their personal goals was my principal joy in that role, so I decided to do it full time. I believe that there is beauty and relevance in mathematics. I believe that every person can achieve success in mathematics -- whatever you need from the discipline to help you achieve your personal goals, you can get that. I will help you learn what you need by learning what you know and what you don't know, and I will chunk everything down into bite-sized pieces to make moving through topics as smooth as possible. If math makes you nervous or you just don't like it -- I can work with you and you will succeed. If you don't think you can do it -- I beg to differ, you can. I look forward to helping you meet your goals.
I am in my thirteenth year in the classroom, and have worked with students in the fifth grade through college students taking calculus, and I am certified in Missouri to teach middle and high school math. My methods are high-engagement, meaning I'll get you working on problems quickly...first with me alongside, and then I'll give you more and more responsibility until you are doing it all by yourself (sometimes even before you know it). I am relaxed and engaging, and if we can have a laugh or two along the way then so much the better.
Let me know how I can help!
