I have played the flute since I was 10 years old after my music teacher recommended I try it out. I have played the flute since I was 10 years old after my music teacher recommended I try it out. I was absolutely against it at first but once I picked it up and began to play on it, I immediately fell in love. Since then, I have taken it everywhere with me and have done so many amazing things. I received amazing opportunities throughout high school that I couldn't have gotten anywhere else.
In high school, during my free periods I would go to the band room and teach all the upcoming flute players a variety of things ranging from simple note reading all the way to playing the instrument as well as possible (I even taught my own sister). I absolutely enjoyed being able to teach someone about something I am so passionate about and see their face light up with joy when they finally nailed the pitch or knew what the note name was. And I look forward to doing that with you!
Aside from teaching students during high school, I have many honors and awards to talk about and show you that I am qualified to teach you about the instrument I hold so dear to me. I was the first chair flute for HDC conference band, the All-District band, Truman Honor Band and my regular band four years in a row. All four years of school I played solos in competitions and was rated with a "1" which is the best score you can get where you then can advance and play at state solo competitions where I also received a "1". In college, I am the first chair flute and perform in a multitude of bands. I am in a flute choir, a local community band, a flute trio, and a flute quartet.
