I graduated from Northwestern University and worked in advertising as Web sites were just beginning to be an essential business platform. I worked in graphic design, print production, web sites, video production and editing. I also love animation using Adobe products. I currently teach Adobe software to high school students and was awarded teacher of the year in 2019. I am also certified to teach English, Debate, Public Speaking, and Forensics (Competitive Acting). My background all ties together as I love the art of storytelling. I enjoy a great book as much as I love an engaging movie. My goal is to teach students how to tell stories well using many different mediums.

I love teaching people how to use technology to be creative. I hope I can help you learn to be creative for a living.

I teach every day and I worked in several advertising agencies. I not only know how to use the technology, but I know how to make money doing it. I’m very patient and love getting to know people. When I can help someone achieve their dream, I think I’m as excited as they are.

I started drawing when I was very young. My friends and I created our own comic books and specialized in visual storytelling. If I wasn’t a multimedia teacher, I would be an art teacher. Many times I will assign traditional assignments that lead into the computer version. This helps those not as comfortable with the computer to understand concepts and then see how they translate to doing something similar with technology.

I promise you that if you partner with me as your creative tutor, I will make sure I am 100 percent about your success. I have a good sense of humor and many of my students stay in touch with me to share their latest work. My success will be your success.

Art

Adobe Illustrator,

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator is the best tool for learning to draw digitally. Drawing in illustrator will result in high resolution vector art that is best for logos, animation, and several other very detailed outputs. I utilize Illustrator for developing characters that I can then utilize in Adobe Premiere and Adobe Animate. I find the other applications have illustration tools, but they are not as advanced as Adobe Illustrator. I typically set up a 30 minute meet and greet with my students so they can ask questions and we can get to know each other. This will give you a chance to decide if I am the right tutor for you. And it will give me a chance to assess your skills and see where I can add value. I then refund the first 30 minutes so you can make an informed decision about you or your child's education.
Adobe Photoshop,

Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop is one of my favorite creative applications. I really enjoy teaching students how to use Photoshop to enhance their photography. I encourage my students to send me what they want to do ahead of time so I can structure a lesson that will teach them exactly what they need to know. Photoshop does some new and exciting things that we can also delve into with some of the more experienced students. I typically schedule a 30 minute session for students to get to know me. This also allows me to assess their skills and see where I can add value. I then refund this meet and greet and you can decide if you want to continue.
Video Production

Video Production

I've been working with Adobe Premiere for 8 years now. I teach high school students how to create their own videos and add music and effects to it. I specialize in helping students learn to tell stories with the camera. We improve those stories using Adobe Premiere and After Effects. We also create images and graphics for our videos utilizing Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. We build animations utilizing Adobe Animate.

Computer

Adobe Flash,

Adobe Flash

I teach Adobe Animate which is what Flash is now. I teach students how to utilize Animate with photos and digital art they create in Adobe Illustrator. My classes have challenges that will allow students to learn to tell stories with animations and add in their own sound and music. We utilize many of our animations in our videos we create in Adobe Premiere and Adobe After Effects.

Animation

I begin animation lessons with flip books and a bit of history about animation. I then show how to use Adobe products to create animations. I prefer to use Adobe Animate and then add to videos I create in Adobe Premiere and After Effects. I do find it advantageous if you learn to use Photoshop and Illustrator for tools to create images to import into Adobe Animate.

Extremely patient & encouraging

I learned more in an hour with Kyle than I did during an entire day of watching YouTube videos and trying to figure it out for myself. I’m so excited to continue my journey of getting up to speed with professional editing tools.

Definitely an Adobe Pro (And Nice Guy Too).

I struggled with YouTube videos, but found I needed a pro to get me started with Premier Pro. Very patient with coaching me through first jump into video editing. Everyone knows who reads this that Premier Pro has a very steep learning curve. I need to spend hours between tutoring sessions to fully try out and absorb one-hour lessons. Kyle clearly knows his stuff and is fluent with Adobe products
