I am a creative and driven tutor, accustomed to working with a diverse array of students. I tutored elementary school students through Belleville Americorps, even before receiving my teaching certification, and was pleased to see my students advance significantly.

As an English teacher, I taught freshman and sophomore English, coached debate, taught drama, poetry, and public speaking, and also taught creative and technical writing. In addition, I create jewelry and have clowning experience, and I have hosted art summer camp programs, so I would happily provide enrichment and integrate creative approaches to learning.

I believe that each student learns in different ways, and that learning is a partnership that involves trust, patience, flexibility, high standards, and accountability. Every student I have ever met, from the most gifted to the most struggling, has the potential for growth. Lessons should be designed for the student in question, particularly in a tutoring session. I value and encourage parent and guardian involvement, and I think it is important to set clear and attainable goals and benchmarks, providing positive reinforcement to encourage growth.
