Hola, I'm Natalie. My educational background is a long and winding road.... It started with my first job after I got my teaching degree, as a 4th grade teacher at an international school in Honduras. This experience deepened my Spanish knowledge, in addition to giving me experience in elementary and ELL (English Language Learner) education. I was there for two years, then returned to the United States and substitute taught for a year. I got to experience grades K-12 and teach pretty much every subject possible.
I was then hired as an English Language Learner paraprofessional, where I worked with grades K-5 one-on-one and in small groups. I also co-sponsored a writing club and helped teach a night class for adult learners of English during my time there. During summer break, I tutored elementary students in the core subjects.
My most recent educational experience was nine years as a middle school teacher. Throughout my tenure there, I taught Spanish 1, an introductory foreign language course, 6th & 7th English Language Arts, and 6th-grade social studies. I also taught an extra class focused on study skills and social-emotional learning.
As a result of my wide range of educational experiences, I'm skilled in multiple subject areas and ages. During COVID, I also became proficient in online teaching. I am passionate about languages and history, love reading, and writing, and am devoted to teaching and learning. My previous students and coworkers said that I am kind, patient, and well-organized.
