My passion for math extends across various levels, from my favorite high school course, Statistics, to my most engaging college course to date, Pre-Calculus with Trigonometry. I possess a strong mathematical foundation, having graduated cum laude with an Associate of Arts degree and currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. This allows me to tutor effectively across a range of subjects, from foundational concepts to more advanced high school and early college-level material.
My tutoring experience began formally in June 2024. I started as a peer tutor at St. Louis Community College, where I worked with fellow college-level students on a one-on-one and small-group basis, primarily focusing on course content like college algebra and statistics. This experience provided me with practical skills in identifying student problem areas and tailoring explanations to individual learning styles. In November 2024, I transitioned to private tutoring, which is predominantly a one-on-one setting. In this context, I have successfully assisted students ranging from elementary school age (with basic arithmetic and homework support) through college students (with test preparation and complex problem-solving).
My approach is primarily student-centric and focused on immediate academic needs, emphasizing "homework-help" and "test-prep." I do not aim to re-teach entire curricula but rather to clarify and solidify the material a student has already been taught. I’m a student too and I recognize that a concept's explanation can sometimes be a barrier to understanding, which is why I strive to help students learn and understand better.
I am committed to making the tutoring session as beneficial as possible, actively soliciting feedback and remaining open to adjusting my methods to best suit the student's unique needs, ensuring that every student I work with can achieve a better understanding of their math course material. Please reach out to me with any questions. I look forward to working with you!
