I can teach anyone to be a programmer and make complex subjects simple to understand.

I am an experienced programming instructor and software developer. I have taught students from elementary school to adults. I am able to teach the concepts related to programming using various computer languages.

My college education focused on teaching and librarianship. I lived in South Korea for a year and taught English in private and public schools. I know how to teach and to work with students to achieve their goals. I am patient and I do not like to rush students.

I modify my teaching style to fit my student's needs. I prefer to visually show how to do a task or provide the right tools and let the student take over. I don't mind answering quick questions and prefer to respond quickly to student inquiries.

I primarily teach online lessons. I am also available in Columbia, Missouri for in-person sessions.

Excellent Tutor With A Knack For Teaching

As someone who works as a tutor with Wyzant in the math/sciences I fully understand what it is needed to be a quality teacher. Alan fits the profile quite well. He is extremely knowledgeable about HTML coding and tailors his solutions to fit the needs of his student. Alan walked me through the portions of coding I had not done before with step by step help. By the end of the session I actually wrote my own functions for the last part of my assignment...which is great because I choose tutoring to learn, not have someone do the problems for me.

Knowledgeable and qualified tutor.

Explained in depth and went over items multiple times to make sure I understood them. Went out of his way to provide me with additional information even after the lesson ended! Prepare before your lesson by making a list of what you'd like to work on or problems you'd like to solve.

Excellent start

My 18 year old son found himself needing help with JavaScript. I contacted Alan B. and got a reply in a few hours. My son just finished his first session, and we are both very pleased. It started right on time. My son felt that Alan was very knowledgeable about the subject and taught at his pace. He was patient and explained the concepts well. My son felt at ease with Alan, and plans on having regular tutoring sessions.

He Knows What He's Doing

Alan knows his programming; and a lot more. He also showed me several web sites that deal with the exact problems I will find very useful. He rapidly moved through coding examples that I am now using. Just hope I can keep up and make notes of all the information he supplied. Highly recommended for a doofus like me."

Very informative and helpful!

I had a great tutoring experience with Alan. He helped me out with computer programming (specifically JavaScript) and has a vast amount of knowledge in that field. He is excellent at tailoring the lesson to your specific goals and stays on topic throughout your time with him. He works with you through problems to find a solution instead of just giving you the answer right off the bat. If there is something that you don't understand, he will explain the concept in a simplified form so you can fully understand what you are learning. You won't go wrong with Alan B.
