I have an M.A. and all-but-dissertation Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago, one of the top 3 universities in the field of economics. Until recently, I have led a dual career as a part-time professor and key executive at very large service organizations. I now devote full time teaching undergraduate and graduate level economics at St. Louis's two major universities.
While a resident in Chicago I taught for five years at Illinois Institute of Technology and Elmhurst College. Since moving to St. Louis 20 years ago I have been teaching at Saint Louis University, Maryville University, and Webster University. I am also a trainer for a major global learning and development company providing training in business acumen, finance and project management to Fortune 500 companies. For the past five years I have been tutoring both local and remote students in person and via online platforms, including Zoom and MS Teams. My learning goal is to get students excited and adept at using an economist perspective in understanding the world we live in. I am not a talking head but instead utilize group activities in the classroom setting and active learning and Socratic methodologies in both the classroom and in tutoring.
I have taught undergraduates and graduate students ranging in age from 18 to 45 years old in primarily classroom settings and occasionally in synchronous online settings. I have one-on-one tutored students and adult learners ranging in age from 14 to 65 years old.
