Hi, I'm Kelleen!
I'm a licensed special education teacher with 23 years of classroom experience, including 13 years as a K-5 Resource Room teacher at the same elementary school. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Special Education from St. Cloud State University and a Master's degree in Education – Literacy with a K-12 Reading Endorsement from Concordia University – St. Paul. I currently serve as my district's Special Education Math Lead for elementary grades and co-teach 5th grade math using the Bridges Mathematics curriculum, and I also bring 15 years of experience teaching with Everyday Mathematics, so I'm comfortable working within whatever math curriculum your child's school uses.

What I believe most, though, is that real learning doesn't happen without a relationship first. I'm a connector by nature, and before I ever ask a student to work hard, I take the time to get to know them — what they enjoy, what frustrates them, how they think. I fill the cup before I ask anything from it. Once that trust is there, I hold students accountable and push them when they're capable of more, because I've seen again and again that kids rise to genuine belief in them.

I especially love working with students who have IEPs or 504 plans, students who feel anxious or frustrated about math, and students who just need things explained a different way than their classroom instruction. I'd love the chance to help your child build real, lasting confidence and lifelong success in learning!

Elementary (K-6th)

I bring 23 years of elementary teaching experience to every session, including 13 years as a K-5 Resource Room teacher at the same school. I've taught using both Everyday Mathematics and Bridges Mathematics curricula, and I have a Master's degree in Literacy Education with a K-12 Reading Endorsement, so I'm comfortable supporting students across reading, writing, and math. My background also includes serving on my district's MTSS and Problem Solving teams, which means I'm skilled at figuring out exactly where a student is stuck and building a plan to close that gap. I work well with students who have IEPs or 504 plans, as well as students who simply need concepts explained in a different way than their classroom instruction.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

I bring 23 years of elementary teaching experience to math instruction, including 13 years as a K-5 Resource Room teacher and my current role as District Special Education Math Lead for elementary grades. I co-teach 5th grade math using the Bridges Mathematics curriculum and also have 15 years of experience teaching with Everyday Mathematics, so I'm comfortable working within whatever curriculum your child's school uses. Rather than simply re-teaching a lesson louder, I focus on identifying the specific skill gap causing a student to struggle and building a targeted plan from there — a skill I've sharpened through years on my district's MTSS and Problem Solving teams. I work especially well with students who have IEPs or 504 plans, as well as students who feel frustrated or anxious about math and need to rebuild confidence alongside their skills.
Executive Functioning

Executive Functioning

As a special education teacher with 23 years of classroom experience, I've spent much of my career helping students who struggle with organization, focus, task initiation, and following multi-step directions — skills at the heart of executive functioning. I regularly build these supports directly into IEPs and daily instruction, and my work on my district's MTSS and building Problem Solving teams has given me a strong, practical understanding of how executive functioning challenges show up differently in each student. Rather than generic organizational tips, I focus on identifying a student's specific pattern of struggle and teaching concrete strategies that fit how they actually think and work. I believe real progress here starts with a strong relationship and genuine buy-in from the student, not just a checklist of tools.
