All it took for me to start enjoying science class was one good teacher in highschool and I hope to do the same for my students. I specialize in STEM subjects like math and chemistry. I got a 5 on the AP Chemistry exam last spring and have taken all of these classes a lot more recently then most tutors.
I understand I do not have any teaching certificates or formal classroom teaching experience but I recognize that not all students learn best from traditional classroom settings, and some may benefit from a tutor who is closer to their own age and can relate to their challenges. I’ve found that students often feel more comfortable and open when they can work with a younger tutor, as it creates an environment where they feel like they’re learning from someone who understands their perspective.
The main reason I find why students don't feel the classroom material is important is that they ask “When am I gonna use this in real life” and usually they can't think of anything. After seeing this I like to start every lesson with a situation where engineers or scientists use the topics we learn to solve problems in the real world. I find this is more interesting to the students and usually helps them stay focused the rest of the time. I am very flexible with timing so feel free to reachout to me if you are interested and I typically respond very fast!
