I am a registered nurse with experience in Medical-Surgical, Stepdown, ICU, and Cardiology nursing. I passed the NCLEX on the first try and would love to help you pass on your first try too! I am also a Minnesota certified Public Health Nurse and board-certified by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses as a Stepdown Nurse (RN-PCCN). I have a bachelor's degree in Human Physiology with minors in Chemistry and Public Health from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and an accelerated bachelor of science in nursing from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. I'm a great fit for both traditional undergraduate students and those returning to education, as well as neurodiverse students.
I started tutoring my peers in High School, and never stopped. Most recently, I worked as an adjunct professor of nursing, focused on in-person skills labs and clinical rotations. My approach to tutoring includes using visual methods and creating step-by-step instructions of how to break down problems so you can confidently answer questions on your own. I want to help you feel confident when you go to class, sit down for a test, and show up on your first day of work as a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
My areas of interest include NCLEX prep, medication math, clinical skills (things like IVs, nasogastric tubes, injections, etc.), and psychosocial aspects of nursing. I really enjoyed many of the aspects of nursing school, and can bring a nursing focused approach to various subjects, including anatomy and physiology, nutrition, psychology, math, and chemistry. Writing papers and lab reports can be a challenge for nursing students, and I am happy to walk you through the writing process and teach you how to write pain-free assignments. Resiliency and mental well-being are very important in our line of work, and I include aspects of this in every interaction.
