My favorite part of teaching storytelling, in all it’s forms, is the “Ahhh-HA!!!” moment — the moment when a student makes a connection or reaches an understanding of a concept that literally opens an entirely new world to them. There is nothing truly like the look on the face of a student who has just seen an entirely new world of possibilities, previously invisible to them.
As a filmmaker and a college instructor, I have both written short stories and screenplays, as well as taught story structure and screenwriting for 16 years. I have attended work shops and classes taught by such notable story/script authors/consultants as: Christopher Vogler, Sid Field, Linda Segar, Michael Hague, John Truby & Dan Decker
I have been taking photos and making films/videos since the age of 13 (over 40 years). My interests primarily are as a producer for narrative projects (short films, features, episodic TV), but am also experiences as a director, writer, editor, camera operator, as well as in other industry segments such as commercials, corporate video, broadcast news, radio and music videos. I have taught film & video classes at the college level for 16 years, as well as occasional community education classes.
While I am not a lawyer, as a film producer, I deal with many aspects of contracts and intellectual property related to writing, filmmaking, working with crew and actors, fundraising and basic business formation. I also have an MS degree in Entertainment Business.
