Hello, I am Marley! I have a Masters degree majoring in Botany. With a passion to teach students and help them excel, I decided to pursue a career in teaching in 2015. I have completed my teacher certification course and have received the Texas Teacher Certificate for Life Science 7 - 12. Through this certification course, I was able to gain knowledge about the schools’ curriculum and exams. I have always had a keen interest in teaching students and helping them learn strategies to use on their tests and assignments. Previously, I worked as a Peer Instructor and an Office Manager at Kumon Math and Reading Center . Through this position, I was able to tutor students ranging from elementary to high school in Math and Reading. I was able to prepare lesson plans for students based on their progress in class that was monitored through the center’s computer software. I decided to become a tutor as it will give me the opportunity to teach students one-on-one. In this way, I will be able to focus on each student and help them achieve their goal.

As a tutor, I try to explain science lessons using examples with real-world applications. I use diagrams and charts to help students better understand certain concepts in Science. As I get to know the student at the beginning of the session, I will prepare personalized study materials to improve their learning method. Through formal assessments during the tutoring sessions, I will be able to understand the needs of the students.

I want to help build students' confidence and share the joy that comes with improvement. As a tutor, my greatest strengths are being punctual, flexible, and a good listener. Tutoring sessions can help students become comfortable asking questions, big or small, without feeling embarrassed.
