Even more true in today's world, the core goal of education is to empower students to grow in success, confidence, and skills. Having been a caregiver, tutor, and certified teacher in three states has afforded me experience with students of all ages and abilities (from special education to gifted and talented to ESL/English language learners). This is founded on a bachelor's degree in elementary education, minors in music and Spanish, and a master's degree in educational leadership.

Having been a caregiver, tutor, and certified teacher in three states has afforded me experience with students of all ages and abilities (from special education to gifted and talented to ESL/English language learners). This is founded on a bachelor's degree in elementary education, minors in music and Spanish, and a master's degree in educational leadership.

Quality teachers who invested in me are part of my success, and I strive to pay that forward. Some of these teachers have supported me in earning awards, such as graduating summa cum laude, membership to the National Forensics League, membership to Phi Kappa Phi, awards on teacher certification tests, public speaking on a national level, and more. A teacher's demonstrated belief in her students is crucial.

Using current and time-tested best practices in education helps students achieve more. Since everyone is unique, the methods for each session are, too. Lessons are interactive and typically begin with a clear goal, addressing questions, and reviewing previous skills, if necessary. Then, new material is taught and practiced. Continual assessment strategies ensure understanding. If it is fitting, homework is given to help students bolster their skills.

I have high expectations for myself and welcome feedback that will increase the effectiveness of our lessons. I believe that, as a tutor, it is my responsibility to creatively meet each student’s needs. I strive to be flexible and offer makeup lessons alongside a 24 hour cancellation policy. Wonderful Tutor

Ma’am Melissa’s manner of teaching is so wonderful and refreshing!! She’s patient and supportive, but really knows how to motivate her students. She’s great at building confidence and keeping lessons fun and engaging through a variety of activities that improve conversation, writing, and reading skills. I had a really good experience learning English language skills with her. She is an awesome tutor. I had a lot of fun doing it! I will miss her. Thank you so much once again!

She did the other 8 problems on her own. She was like I got. Must have done it correctly bcoz the computer said well done. Then the next day same math and she she said easy, I got it. Good math lesson on tues, thanks. No Thursday. Let us know when return from trip. Back to the grind.
