I have 2 years of experience working at an Elementary school doing literacy intervention with students K-5 who are 6 months to 2 years behind in their literacy skills. This one-on-one tutoring position gave me the opportunity to connect and really know my students, allowing for easy adaptation of their lessons to fit both their needs and interests. My tutoring methods adapt to the needs of the student: allowing inclusion of multi-sensory practices, mindfulness breaks and social-emotional learning opportunities, and inclusion of student interests, ideas, and creativity. Tutoring should be comprehensive, but it should always be fun and allow the child to grow in their confidence in not just the subject area, but themselves.
I am currently in a masters program at the University of Minnesota where I am getting my teachers licensure.
I have received Read Act Paraprofessional training, CPR and First Aid certification and training in Dyslexia, Autism, and trauma-informed education training.
