I'm Andrew! I am an Actuarial Science student at Texas Christian University, where I am currently enrolled in Calculus II and Discrete Mathematics. My decision to pursue a degree in actuarial science reflects my deep passion for mathematics. I find it genuinely fascinating across the board.
My tutoring experience comes primarily from Mathnasium, where I worked one-on-one with students ranging from elementary school through high school. I focused on building a rich conceptual understanding rather than memorizing procedures. When a student gets stuck, I have found the problem is rarely that they cannot do the math, but that an earlier concept had not fully clicked. I try to find that gap and address it directly rather than just re-explaining the same thing louder. I am comfortable tutoring pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus, and calculus, and I work well with students who feel behind or who have convinced themselves they are "bad at math."
I prefer one-on-one sessions because they let me adapt in real time to how an individual student thinks. I am patient, I do not move on until something is actually understood, and I am honest with students about where they are and what it will take to get where they want to be. I am available for both in-person and online sessions. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to schedule a lesson!
