Hello there, I'm Julie, a dedicated tutor who wants to help young students reach their targeted goals and gain confidence in themselves. I have been working with elementary students for 15 years as an Instructional Paraprofessional. I have experience supervising an after school program as well. I've had training in student behavior management and have also worked in the role as a special education para. My main focus is math interventions, although I am additionally utilized to assist in reading & writing. I am part of the reading testing team at the school where I work and I proctor the 3rd & 4th grade MCA tests. I work in the classroom at times and at other times I pull a small group out to a practice room for extra help. I do one-on-one interventions with students behind in their grade level standards. In the summer I lead a program for middle school age youth where we keep them busy biking, hiking, swimming, cooking, crafting, engaging in all kinds of activities, which I enjoy planning for them.
From my past career in film & live productions, I have become a resilient problem solver. My creativity and strong interpersonal abilities work well with a diverse community of youth and adults.
My interests are dance, music, traveling and healthy living. I try to incorporate each student's interests into their learning. Learning should be active (fun), focused (strong effort), and relevant (connections)!
