Hello, my name is A.J.! I am a CHEMICAL ENGINEERING graduate from the University of Kansas. I have taken and excelled in college classes like calculus, chemistry, organic chemistry, and fluid mechanics to name a few. In high school, I graduated with sigma cum Laude honors, and I had a 3.9 GPA on a 4.0 scale. In addition, I graduated in the top 10% of my class, and I scored 5’s on my AP calc AB, AP micro, and AP macro exams.

I have had years of previous tutoring experience on Varsity tutors. On that platform, I primarily tutored algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus. My approach to tutoring is simple and easy. I must say, many students enjoy my approach because it makes the answer very apparent to them. My method is to break the problem down and solve parts of the problem. Then put these parts together like an easy four piece puzzle. I often ask questions during the session, to check the comprehension of the student. This is because math often requires you to understand many small concepts in order to solve a problem.

I have previously tutored students ranging in ages from late elementary to college. Most of my sessions have been one on one. With a mix of online and in-person depending on the student’s preferences. I always have enjoyed helping students and nothing compares to when a student has that ah ha moment. Lastly, I’m always open to suggestions or feedback from students or parents regarding my tutoring.

ACT Math

ACT Math

I scored in the 30’s on the math portion of the ACT. I’m also a senior chemical engineering student so anything math or science related is my area of expertise. Many things covered in the ACT math section are concepts that I must be an expert on to solve engineering problems. In addition, I scored a 5 on my calc AB exam while in high school.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I am a senior chemical engineering student. I have scored a 5 on my calc AB exam in high school. Also, I have years of experience tutoring algebra 2. I’m an expert at breaking algebra 2 problems down into clear and concise pieces. Students really enjoy my ways of teaching!
Calculus

Calculus

I scored a 5 on my calc AB exam in high school. In addition, I excelled in my college calculus courses and finished calculus 3 by the end of my freshman year. I am extremely good at solving integrals and derivatives. Especially problems that involve chain rule, u-substitution, double integrals, etc..
Earth Science

Earth Science

I have a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering and I have tutored this subject for many years. In addition, I have in-depth knowledge about the earth's atmosphere, crust, and how tectonic plates move. Lastly, I know a bunch about the geology that goes into how rocks were formed on planet earth.
Environmental Science

Environmental Science

During my chemical engineering undergraduate journey I gained a breath of knowledge about different types of environmental science. Such as how our drinking water is cleaned in wastewater treatment facilities. Lastly, I know about OSHA's laws and regulations that the EPA enforces that ultimately help the environment flourish.
Geometry

Geometry

I’m a senior chemical engineering student. Geometry is one of the basic building blocks I use to solve the complex problems in engineering. Also, I have years of experience tutoring geometry. Specifically, I know the different shapes, degrees, and formulas to solve any geometry problem that I may encounter.
Track & Field

Track & Field

I am a two time state champion in the 800 meters, two time Minnesota gatorade track and field player of the year, and I ran track for the University of Kansas for 4 years. In addition, I am a second-team All-American in the 800m and currently my best finish is 10th at the United States track and field championships.
