I grew up bilingual in Spanish and English. After my undergraduate studies at the University of Chicago, I completed a PhD in Linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin. My areas of specialization are phonetics and phonology (the study of sounds) as well as descriptive and documentary linguistics (describing, recording, and strengthening previously understudied languages).
