I'm Kayla! I graduated with an Associate's Degree in Occupational Therapy and am currently employed as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). I have been a COTA for several years now, specifically working with children with special needs including diagnoses of ADHD, ASD, Dyslexia, and Sensory Processing. I currently work within the school system, helping children in elementary and middle school grades with fine motor skills (cutting, coloring, handwriting, etc.), executive functioning (time management, organizational skills, sequencing steps), and visual motor skills (copying from board). Since being in the school system, I have started to notice that the kids I work with often get frustrated with homework assignments, projects, or unfinished work whether it was too challenging, not enough time to complete, or did not understand what was being asked of them. I am constantly trying to find ways to help my students in all environments (school, home life, sports, etc.).

Tutoring has always intrigued me and I finally have the time to do so! I do not have any previous tutoring experiences, but I can assure you this is what I do all day long when I pull my students out for sessions. I am constantly looking for ways to accommodate and make completing their school work easier! There are many tools in my tool box that I can use to help students understand or be able to initiate asking for help in classes. I am easy to reach and am quick to respond to messages. I have seen and encountered a variety of curriculums that are used in the elementary setting. I am aware of all the skill levels each age should be at and have a variety of skills that can help students understand the material presented.

I have worked with special needs for over seven years and have many techniques that I have found successful in the school environment.
