I am currently an Elementary Education major with a minor in Strategic Communications at Hampton University, where I am preparing to become a licensed elementary school teacher. My academic coursework has provided me with training in child development, instructional strategies, literacy, classroom management, and educational best practices. In addition, I am fluent in Mandarin Chinese after completing thirteen years in a Mandarin immersion program, which has strengthened my communication skills and ability to explain concepts in multiple ways to meet the needs of diverse learners.
My teaching experience includes serving as a Servant Leader Intern with CDF Freedom Schools, where I have worked directly with elementary-aged students in a classroom setting. In this role, I lead educational activities, support literacy development, facilitate small-group and whole-group instruction, and help create engaging learning environments that encourage students to grow academically and personally. I have also worked with students through volunteer and leadership experiences, including youth educational programming and mentoring opportunities. These experiences have allowed me to work with students from various backgrounds and learning levels while building strong relationships with both children and families.
My approach to tutoring focuses on building confidence, fostering curiosity, and helping students develop a strong foundation in their academic skills. I believe every student can succeed when instruction is tailored to their individual needs and learning style. Whether I am helping a student strengthen their reading comprehension, improve writing skills, develop study habits, or better understand social studies concepts, I strive to create a positive and encouraging environment where students feel supported and motivated to learn. My goal is not only to help students improve academically but also to help them become confident, independent learners.
