I recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. My education gave me a strong foundation in math and science, including algebra, calculus, chemistry, and physics, along with extensive experience in technical and technical writing. Throughout college, I developed strong reading, writing, and communication skills through research papers, laboratory presentations, and collaborative projects.
I have experience helping classmates, younger students, and others understand challenging material in both a one-on-one setting and in small groups. I previously worked at ICode teaching elementary students introductory engineering and programming skills. I like to first gauge the current level of those I am trying to help by having them walk me through what they understand and what they are struggling with. I then try to break the problem into smaller steps, finding different ways to explain material when the first explanation does not click. I want students to understand why an answer makes sense and then be able to apply what they learned in different contexts, rather than purely memorizing correct answers.
I am interested in working with students from a wide range of ages, from elementary school through to college. With younger students, I can provide foundational knowledge across math, science, and English. For older students, I can provide more advanced support in math and science as well as essay writing, organization, and study skills. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and building skills they can use independently.
