Hello and thank you for considering me as a tutor. I specialize in helping nursing and paramedic students strengthen clinical reasoning, test-taking strategies, and simulation performance. I am a practicing CVICU registered nurse with a long background in emergency medical services and clinical education. Before becoming an RN, I worked for many years as a 911 and critical care paramedic, where I gained extensive experience caring for patients in high-acuity situations. I have also served as a paramedic instructor and taught in several EMT and paramedic training programs in the Boston area. In addition, I have taught American Heart Association courses including ACLS, BLS, and PALS. Through these roles, I have worked with students at many different stages of their education and understand the challenges that come with learning complex medical concepts and preparing for high-stakes certification exams.

I specialize in helping nursing and paramedic students prepare for certification exams such as the NCLEX, NREMT-B, and NREMT Paramedic exam. My tutoring focuses on helping students identify knowledge gaps and develop effective strategies for approaching exam questions. Many students struggle not because they lack knowledge, but because they have difficulty interpreting how exam questions test clinical reasoning and patient prioritization. During our sessions we break down practice questions step by step and review key concepts such as cardiology, ECG interpretation, pharmacology, airway management, and patient assessment so that students can understand both the content and the reasoning behind the correct answers.

My goal is not only to help students succeed on their exams, but also to help them feel confident applying their knowledge in real-world patient care situations. I strive to create a supportive learning environment where students can ask questions freely, strengthen their clinical reasoning, and build the confidence needed to move forward in their healthcare careers.

EMT/ NREMT

I am a practicing CVICU RN and a paramedic with over 15 years of NREMT-P certification, bringing extensive real-world critical care experience to EMT and paramedic students. I help students prepare for the NREMT-B and NREMT Paramedic exams by simplifying complex concepts including cardiac physiology, shock management, airway care, pharmacology, and patient assessment. My tutoring emphasizes exam strategy, practice questions, and clinical reasoning to build confidence and ensure success. Sessions are tailored to each student’s needs, making challenging material understandable and directly applicable to both certification exams and real-world patient care.

Very knowledgeable and encouraging tutor

Derek G. taught about how to handle different scenarios and what to expect from each system and disease process. He was able to look at my rubric per my schools grading scale and go through everything with me. I was able to understand what to do in a critical situation and I was able to understand the system and the disease process. I was able to walk into the room with confidence when I did the simulation and I passed. Thank you so much to Derek G.
