I’ve spent more than 25 years teaching English and working with students as they build confidence in reading, writing, and test-taking. I hold a Master of Science in Education from Northwestern University, a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Notre Dame, and a Minnesota teaching license in English/Language Arts (grades 7–12). I tutor students in ACT English and Reading, grammar, academic writing, reading comprehension, and college essays, always focusing on practical strategies, clear expectations, and steady improvement.
My experience includes traditional classrooms, one-on-one tutoring, small-group ACT prep, and online instruction. From 2005–2015, I taught ACT and SAT preparation, helping students improve timing, accuracy, and confidence through targeted practice and individualized feedback. Since 2015, I have served as Department Chair and English Instructor at a local high school where I teach grades 9–12, design ACT-aligned assessments, and help students understand exactly what their scores mean and how to improve them.
Alongside my classroom work, I coach students through the college essay process, from brainstorming to final polish. I also have taught Language Arts in a virtual setting with students from a wide range of backgrounds. No matter the setting, my goal is the same: to make reading and writing feel manageable, to explain expectations clearly, and to help students see real progress they can be proud of.
