Greetings from Jessica! I'm excited to share with you information regarding my teaching and learning experiences. I've been in the teaching and tutoring field for over 10 years. My favorite subjects include: elementary topics such as reading, writing, basic math skills, English grammar, phonics, Spanish conjugation and basic level Spanish, as well as elementary Spanish Immersion. I have a major in elementary education and a minor in Spanish.

Greetings from Jessica! I'm excited to share with you information regarding my teaching and learning experiences. I've been in the teaching and tutoring field for over 10 years. My favorite subjects include: elementary topics such as reading, writing, basic math skills, English grammar, phonics, Spanish conjugation and basic level Spanish, as well as elementary Spanish Immersion. I have a major in elementary education and a minor in Spanish.

I'm extremely excited to be a tutor on Wyzant's platform as my love for tutoring can be fulfilled. The opportunity to challenge an already gifted student or to be working with a struggling student is something in which I have lots of experience. I enjoy using higher-level thinking strategies with students that are above grade level. The potential for learning soars and these students see other avenues through which they are able to challenge themselves, in lessons with me! If a student struggles, my strength is my patience, calm tone and ability to repeat, re-define and investigate a method in which to allow the student to succeed. I'm willing to sing, make up new chants, act, role play, draw, etc. in order to see the lightbulb turn on, so to speak!

I absolutely love English grammar! I want to share my knowledge of it with everyone and think it's so much fun to explain why we use a certain pronoun instead of another. I even enjoy backing up and exploring what a pronoun is or how many different types exist! I learned a plethora about the "English" language whilst learning to speak Spanish! This addition of a new language to my world has forced me to understand parts of speech and grammar topics I hadn't prior understood in my own native language of English! Now, I understand these topics in two languages!

I have a calm demeanor, with a prompt response to answer questions as well as change the pace if I realize the lesson is not moving forward. I am very well-paced with students and observe or guide them in their own method, while adding some tricks, in order to teach

I taught grammar to sixth graders in two different school districts. I have also enjoyed tutoring English grammar to high level middle school students. It is important to understand methods of explaining why a particular aspect of grammar is correct. I have the benefit of speaking two languages which gives an upper hand in the understanding of grammatical differences, which in turn solidifies the understanding for me!

I sometimes am surprised to see how some students struggle with handwriting today. I do believe there is an importance in knowing the correct manner in which to write. I really like working with young readers to develop a fluency and rhythm to their beginner reading skills. I've worked in many facets of teaching Reading in Spanish to students in the elementary grades as was college level courses.

I have always loved Spelling! I am the type of person that has a difficult time reading something that is misspelled! I notice incorrect spellings immediately and have always had the knack for it. If I ever have the chance to enter into an adult Spelling Bee, I know it would be something that this Spelling Sensation would truly love!

My experience teaching Vocabulary is from student teaching in a sixth grade classroom to more middle school classes. I also taught reading, so Vocabulary has been a large part ofv,y experience with 6the grade classes. I have had lots of experience teaching Vocabulary in Spanish as well as English Vocabulary. My teaching of Vocabulary is fun and creatively embedded within writing activities.

I have very articulate and clear speech patterns when it comes to pronunciation in the languages I speak. It is so important to have proper accents on words and pronunciation in order to prove you are credible in your particular language skills!

Jessica is extremely thoughtful and made my 5 year old feel welcome in their very first session. My daughter really looks forward to her sessions. Couldn't be more satisfied and appreciative!!

Seeing progress!

Jessica has been patient with my 6 year old, conducting all learning virtually (which is not easy).
