Bio

I am a newly retired teacher. I taught public and private school for 37 years. I have taught all levels of mathematics from grade 7 - college. I want to tutor because I love teaching!

I know what to do on the exam and what not to do. My average score on the AP exams is about 4 out of 5

This past year, I worked with another math teacher to prepare ACT prep for our students in geometry. 40% of the exam is geometric thinking. So, I have studied the exam and what the students need to know. Because of my 37 years of experience, I am familiar with all the math that is being tested on the exam.

I have taught mathematics for 37 years in a suburban school district. I have taught algebra 1 and 2 and geometry many years. Last year, I taught 2 sections of geometry. I have taught AP calculus for 21 years. I know exactly what students need to know from the "precalculus" so that they are prepared for AP Calculus, AP students, and college level mathematics. I have been an AP Calculus reader for the past 5 years so I know exactly the questions that will be asked and what the college board is looking for in the solutions that the students must present.

Because I have a lot of experience teaching PreCalculus and AP Calculus (21 years), I would be able to tutor Precalculus quite easily. I am an AP Calculus Reader (for the past 5 years) and I know exactly what is needed on the AP Calculus exam. It is not the calculus where students have trouble but in the "precalculus" mathematics. Your student will grow and truly learn mathematics when they are taught by me. I believe in students understanding the math rather than rote memorization. When you understand, you remember!

Great tutor who positively inspires and motivates student!

We highly recommend Lana. She started with positive comments about our student, seeing things in terms of what is possible vs. difficult.
