I'm Ryan! During my time in high school, I had a teacher who was so impactful that I began to love both the subject and teaching because of him. His insight and effective teaching style made me passionate about passing on the same enthusiasm and love for math to the next generation of students. I'm Ryan! During my time in high school, I had a teacher who was so impactful that I began to love both the subject and teaching because of him. His insight and effective teaching style made me passionate about passing on the same enthusiasm and love for math to the next generation of students. I decided because of him that I would devote my studies to math and pursue teaching. In May of 2025, I graduated from the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. Throughout my time there, I managed a GPA of 3.95 and had a full ride scholarship from the National Merit Corporation. In my senior year, I received the top prize in physical and mathematical sciences in the University of Maine Student Symposium for my research into mathematically modeling migrating birds.

I have been tutoring math since before I started college. For several years starting in 2021, I worked with Amy Ruff in Chapel Hill, NC, where I tutored up to 10 students per week. Though I am most used to tutoring 1-on-1, I also have experience in a group setting, as I tutored several groups of students in Calculus 3 during university. My teaching style is quite flexible, and I can adapt to the student's needs depending on what they need. I am excited to do my very best to bring this knowledge and experience to tutoring and do whatever I can to fit anything students might need.

Due to my flexibility and openness for discussion, I encourage anyone interested to reach out to discuss questions or concerns. I will respond quickly and to the best of my ability. Feel free to send me a message with anything you need.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

When I took the ACT, I got a perfect score in math on my first attempt. I’ve been tutoring the ACT since then, and now have 4 years of experience helping people prepare.
Common Core

Common Core

I have been tutoring mathematics at the common core level for years at this point, so I am very familiar with the ins and outs. Additionally, during my time in middle school and high school, I got a perfect 100 on the end of year math exams 3 years in a row, exemplifying my familiarity with the subjects. I am extremely comfortable explaining these subjects at various levels.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

During my undergrad, I took Math 487: Discrete Mathematics. The class was rigorous and proof-based. I passed the class with a high A and a strong understanding of the subject. Additionally, I led review sessions for several students in the class as I understood the material so well.
Logic

Logic

During my time in undergrad, I took two classes, one at the 200 level called "Intro to Abstract Mathematics" and the other called "Discrete Mathematics" at the 400 level. Both of these classes are rigorous, and are about formal logic. I passed both of these classes with high A's. Moreover, every class in a mathematics degree past the 200 level requires proof writing, which is structured entirely around formal logic.
